How do you choose a lawyer to represent you? You obviously want an attorney knowledgeable about the law and an attorney with whom you feel comfortable. A "comfortable" attorney is a "people person", has a pleasant personality, enjoys discussing the ins and outs of your case. One that keeps you informed about every aspect of your case, including costs, cares about your thoughts and advice, can explain things on a level that anyone can understand, and is able to tell you, up front and realistically, his or her thoughts about your case.

I am, now, semi-retired and I only take a limited number of cases. That is not meant to imply that I only take the cream of the crop cases; I will take any case, free or on a limited fee basis, if I truly feel I can make a difference.

With that in mind, let me tell you a little bit about myself.

I decided I wanted to be a lawyer in 1953, and in the next 7 years accomplished that goal, graduating in accounting in 1957, being commissioned in the United States Air Force in ROTC (where my ranking was #1 in the class) and then in 1960 graduating from the University of Oregon Law School (I was ranked #2 in the class) before passing the Bar.

In August of 1960 I went to work in the tax department of Haskins & Sells, a national accounting firm. In October I went into the Air Force where I was a JAG officer for three years, being discharged as a Captain.

From October of 1963 on I decided to work for myself, instead of a big firm, and over the years developed a focus on personal injury and product liability cases, as well as medical and legal malpractice cases.

I have tried all kind of cases in my 49 years as a lawyer. At this point in my life I have decided that the law has given me a lot, and it is my turn to give back, at least so I am willing to take cases at a low fee or even without fee if that case is necessary to achieve justice for someone who really needs it.

With 4 children and 6 grandchildren, I have been so blessed in this life and have been able to accomplish many things. However, at this stage of my life, I discover that I am retirement-challenged. I've struggled at doing nothing constructive. So with the help of my wife Theresa, as my assistant, I'm back working from my home office -- hopefully helping good people like you.

I am rated AV by Martindale Hubble, a lawyer rating agency, which is the highest rating given lawyers.
